Lady Hawks hope to

The Cabrillo Women’s Volleyball Team in 2008 was filled with veteran players who helped lead the Seahawks to a Coastal Conference championship. With only three returning sophomores this year, the team today is filled with a new core.

Led by second-year player Ari Logan, the Seahawks jumped out of this season’s gates in non-conference play with a respectable 10-8 record. Resting above 500 would feel great for most players, but not the second-years on the Seahawks.

After a 25-5 record last year and Nor-Cal championship game appearance, the start was hard for some of the veterans to swallow. But all Seahawks players continued to work and grind. This hard works seems to have enabled veteran players like Logan to put to grips the fact they have a young team that’s going to take their lumps.

The Hawks are four games into Coast Conference play, and the young players are growing by the second in front of coaches and fans.

“If we win our conference then we get an automatic bid to the Northern California volleyball playoffs,” Logan said. “If we get second and we have a good enough record, then we might get an invitation.”

Logan said she wants to take no chanes she wants a repeat as coast conference champs, and she wants to return to the Nor-Cal playoffs. After four games, the Hawks are 3-1 and well on their way to that goal.
